With the Vermont Simple House (VSH) series of house designs, a traditional New England simplicity in form and aesthetics has successfully merged with highly functional plans and an underlying modern sensibility.

Vermont Simple House 1 is a compact house that can fit into any New England neighborhood. The plan offers much flexibility. detailing is for double stud walls for energy efficiency. There is an option for a generous mudroom and three bedrooms upstairs and suggestions for how to add on. Brattleboro tiny house

The original 16×22 tiny house was built in Vermont to replace an old garage in a typical in-town setting. The house provides rental income for the owners. The plans are easily adapted to other types of construction including SIPs, ICFs and double stud walls. The plans for the Brattleboro house are 2 x 6 advanced framing with 1.5? rigid foam on the outside and is undergoing Energy Star certification. The loft is accessed with an alternate tread staircase – check your local codes.

Plans are available in .pdf Format for this 1372 s.f. three bedroom 1.5 bath home by Vermont Architect Robert Swinburne. Purchase and download of the plans represents a non-transferable license to build one house. This is a variation on a house built on the coast of Maine. It was originally designed as a vacation home but is easily adaptable to year round living. It has a compact plan focused on porch living and can easily be expanded in a variety of ways without changing the overall character.
