I am curious if you are using sketchup to create plans and sections as construction documents? It seems like it could be similar to revit bim or atleast a simplified version of it.

I use Vectorworks for most stuff. Sketchup for quick 3-d study models to explore design issues. I have someone modeling the Providence competition house in Revit to do energy modeling. Vectorworks does full on BIM as well. The major CAD engines are definately taking notice of sketchup and figuring out how to support importing and exporting of sketchup files.

I managed to create the sketchup model for a straight run stair with a 9′ floor to floor height. next to do is the construction plans.
